Code of Conduct for Councillors Mediation

Peaceworks have mediated cases under the Local Authorities (Model Code of Conduct) Order 2007.

Authorities will be aware that the National Model Code of Conduct has been repealed by the Localism Act, leaving it up to local Councils to make their own arrangements in terms of a Code of Conduct.  Authorities are awaiting (April 2012) the production of the Local Government Association's Code, which unlike the previous Code of Conduct, will not be mandatory.

Remember that Peaceworks offers training for elected Members and council officers in many aspects of their day to day work, such as Chairing meetings, Leading and Managing, Assertiveness, Public Speaking, Handling Difficult Conversations, Delivering difficult news and Communication skills.

Check out our special page on Local Authorities

The Localism Bill is now an Act with effect from November 2011, and brings in wholesale changes to the standards agenda, (see the abolition of the standards board on page 8 of the Plain English Guide).  If you would like to speak to us about how we can help with a standards case, or any dispute or conflict at Local Authority level please do make contact for a discussion with our team.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the course.... I have learnt so much which can be used in many situations"  West Sussex Fire and Rescue Services, Training Delegate.
